How we source our data

This site publishes prices and playing requirements — the kind of data people plan a Saturday and a tank of fuel around. So you should be able to trace where every number comes from and how certain it is. That is set out below per type of data, including what we do not know.

Where the data comes from

The basis of every club page comes from a single import, recorded in the source file as “NGF-banenzoeker (golf.nl), coördinaten via PDOK/BAG”. We read that overview in on 22 August 2026; the file holds 274 clubs. It provides the name, address, town, phone number, website, number of holes, course types and the playing requirements exactly as they appear there.

The coordinates we use for distances and “courses nearby” were looked up per address in the Dutch BAG register via PDOK. The source file records, per club, how each coordinate was established and how far it sits from the given address.

Location data is based in part on OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). Place suggestions in the search field use BAG data via PDOK/Kadaster (CC BY 4.0).

Green fees, facilities, membership fees and descriptions are not in that overview. They come from the club itself through the club portal, or we take them from the club’s own website.

What we derive — and is therefore an estimate

The NGF overview gives the total number of holes and the course types, but not how those holes are split across loops. We calculate that split during the import: the main course takes the largest multiple of nine that still leaves every secondary course at least three holes. That is why imported loops carry no verification date, while the club details around them do.

Playing requirements arrive as free text. We map them onto a fixed scale — none, course permission, handicap 54, handicap 36, lower — so you can filter on it. Text that does not fit ends up as “other requirement” with the original wording attached, rather than being pushed into the nearest category.

What the labels on a price mean

“Checked on …” means someone verified this price on that day. That happens in one of two ways. The club updates the price in the club portal — we then set the date to today and record the club as the source. Or we change it in our admin panel and explicitly tick that we verified it.

“Not verified yet” means exactly what it says: the price is in our database, but nobody has checked it. Right now that applies to the majority of green fees on this site. We are not softening that — with such a price, check the club’s own site before you drive out.

There is no fixed checking interval. We check when a club submits or changes a price, or when a report gives us reason to. Walking every club website every month is a promise we cannot keep, so we do not make it.

Ratings

Golfer ratings appear only once golfers leave them. Rating requires an account, and your name is shown with your review. Until there is one, the page says “No ratings yet”: no average, no borrowed score, no stars.

If we show a score taken from elsewhere, we name the source with it (“External score via …”). Without a source we leave a borrowed score out: stars without provenance are indistinguishable from our own ratings, which they are not.

What we do not know

Whether tee times are free today. We keep no inventory; the booking button sends you to the club or the tee-time platform.
Whether a price without a verification date still holds today.
Discounts, packages and offers that exist only at the desk or in the club’s newsletter.
The current course status — winter greens, closed holes, maintenance. Where the club publishes that, we link to it.
Your handicap. We are not a handicap register and retrieve nothing from the NGF.

Something not right?

Every course page carries the “Something not right?” button. One field, describe what is wrong; no account needed. The report reaches us with the club attached, we check it, and we correct what is demonstrably wrong.

Are you with the club? Claim the profile. You then manage green fees and details yourself, and a change is live within a minute — carrying today’s verification date.
